 and O'Lakes mission, as a market- and customer-driven cooperative, is to optimize the value of its members' dairy, crop and livestock production. It is dedicated to system success, and to helping farmers and local cooperatives compete and win. That's what being a farmer-owned enterprise is all about. On the Ag Services side of the business, one of year 2000's highlights was the formation of Agriliance, bringing together operations of Land O'Lakes, Cenex Harvest States and Farmland into the world's number-one crop input marketing organization—with Land O'Lakes
holding 50 percent ownership.
While there is still some work to do in combining the various systems, facilities, cultures and people of these organi-zations, Agriliance is well on its way to creating a seamless agronomic system geared specifically to meeting local cooperative and producer needs. In Seed, Land O'Lakes improved the positioning of its seed business in 2000 with the acquisition of seed business assets of Wilfarm and Agri-Bio Tech, Inc. Land O'Lakes is now one of North America's top-four seed companies. By 2001, more than 300 new locations will be selling the cooperative's Croplan Genetics brand seed varieties. As Land O'Lakes Seed plans for its future, it is committed to being an integral part of the "Total Farm Solutions" approach of Ag Services—aligning itself ever more closely with Agriliance, Land O'Lakes Farmland Feed and Cenex Harvest States' grain operations.
